Game Day Party Tips
Here’s how to host without missing the game or those commercials.
Use the Rule of Three
Before you plan anything, make three lists:
- What you’ll make yourself (pick a few dishes can be prepped ahead)
- What you’ll buy (store-bought is more than okay, no one is judging, they're watching the game)
- What guests can bring (be specific to avoid three bags of chips and 3 bowls of onion dip)
Conquering this alone removes 90% of the stress.
Go for Easy Crowd-Pleasers
Think about the food people love and they can serve themselves:
- Buffalo wings (or cauliflower for plant-based guests) with ranch and blue cheese dressing
- A slow cooker of shredded chicken or pork with rolls and various toppings for sliders
- A dessert bar filled with brownies, cookies, or mini pies giving everyone a variety to choose from
- A grazing board is always a hit with so many flavor combinations and textures to enjoy
Pro tip: Prep ahead or choose items that taste good at room temp or can stay warm so you’re one of the fans, not a short-order cook.
Make It Self-Serve
Set out bowls, platters, and baskets with utensils, plates and napkins nearby. Make it easy for people to serve themselves and graze all day long. Clearly label dietary options to avoid cross contact.
Keep Drinks Simple
Beer, wine, a mocktail, and a few sodas are plenty. Set out a bucket lined with a towel for melting ice) and call it a day. This is not the event for a full bar, everyone has to work the next day!
Enjoy Your Own Party
The best parties aren’t about the food—they’re about laughing, relaxing, and being together. Prep what you can, pour yourself a drink, and hang out with everyone.
If your guests leave happy and full, you’ve thrown the perfect party!
With love,
